History


In 1973, a group of horse people from Southern Alberta met to discuss forming a council to co-ordinate the many horse related activities of the region and to assist local organizations in standardizing their operation.

Input and discussion was encouraged from some 50 local groups and in 1974, the Southern Alberta Equestrian Council was formed.


Objectives

  • to promote communication between local horse organizations

  • to distribute financial awards to member clubs

  • to improve recreational equestrian participation

  • to encourage competitive events between member clubs

  • to raise awareness of the variety of horse related activities in the region
